Nikola Tesla Memorial Center in Smiljan
Visit the native place of genius Nikola Tesla. In his birth house you can find interactive exhibit about the life path of this great inventor. Genious Tesla is presented in images, words and sounds. There are also replicas of Tesla’s inventions that changed the world forever and are the foundation for cutting edge technologies even today.
Cave park Grabovača
Visit the only cave park in Europe which allows visitors to experience the past, thousands of years back. On a relatively small area you can find 8 different caves and one pit. They represent diverse and valuable cave stone and crystal formations. 25% of all protected caves in Croatia are located here, with cave Samograd as the most famous location in the park.
To approach the most beautiful parts of the cave Samograd, local people carved 474 steps at the end of the 19th century, the same that we still use today!
Water mills on the river Gacka
Gacka river is one of the cleanest and coldest rivers in Croatia which is why the river is rich in fish as trout that grow only in such waters. These is the reason why fly fishing is very popular here. At the abundant springs of the river people have built many watermills which they used to grind their grains. We will stop by one of them which is still in use. Here you will see how the watermill works, buy some fresh flour or take some excellent photos for your instagram profile. In the nearby restaurant you can try the famous trout from this waters.
